At Black Girl Media, we believe that powerful stories shape powerful futures. We are committed to ensuring that the journalism industry reflects our society, and that means having journalists and visual storytellers who are representative of our country.
The Clenagers (By Cleveland teens for Cleveland teens)
Since 2021, we’ve collaborated with Youth Opportunities Unlimited to create a student-run media company. Our students learn all aspects to creating, producing and distributing content for the website, social media, YouTube and podcast platforms.
Students also designed the website, learned photography and videography and have designed their logo.
Our mission is to introduce students to the variety of opportunities and career paths that can be found in a newsroom on both the editorial and business sides.

Students have opportunities to cover local events
This is a paid internship so students don’t have to juggle academics, our program and a part-time job
We hire teachers to help ensure our curriculum meets academic standards
